Bloom Advertising had been using us as a digital partner for quite a while when they brought us this concept. They wanted to create a fun and playful experience for their clients and brand managers in Ad Land over the holiday period, as a way of saying ‘season’s greetings’ but also showcasing their digital flair. The main challenge we faced was that there was less than two weeks to get from concept to delivery.
It’s always a pleasure to work with the guys in Bloom so we jumped at the chance of making something cool that showcased both of our companies. We knew that we could have some fun with it, and decided it would be strongest if we worked on something that stood out from the usual tribe of snowmen and bearded fat guys. The original suggestion at the start was that we look at using still images, or standard Flash animation, but we knew that video would be the best thing for this.
We created the concept and design of the site and the copy was supplied by Bloom. They were even good enough to volunteer their staff as the actors for the piece (and everyone did a great job here; especially the naughty elf!). We then worked on realising the digital aspects. The design was a quirky mix between Playboy mansion and a cognac commercial - sophistication with a hint of naughtiness.
In the first month it had almost three thousand visits, with people spending an average of three minutes on the site, and almost a thousand gifts were sent from it. This is a huge success for all involved and it’s still live today, almost two years later. Why not have a go!?
